Absthine-Battle of the Brushes
Hamilton Artists Inc-The Wardens-Heather Goodchild
The Wardens is a nondenominational organization started in the late nineteenth century by Anna Ward Brouse. Her early history is vague but it is believed that she was born in Berlin, Ontario (now Kitchener) in 1855. Anna travelled to Pennsylvania as a youth and at the age of twenty-three she was struck by visions depicting a society of outcasts in sixteenth century Germany. Moved by the beauty, strength and wisdom of these long dead people, Anna revealed their practices and beliefs to a growing society of her own.

On going to May4/12 is Two Tales of a City-Broken Lab Residency
The fabric banner installed along the side of HAI’s new building will feature a rotating series of call-and-response dualities over a six week period, while the oversized bunting will span 135 feet hung across the roofline and act as a timeline of collapsed and thriving industries, experiences, struggles, and victories of the city.

The Printstudio-Association of 7-Dawit L Petros

photographs of temporary installations that investigate permutational possibilities and the disjuncture between physical and abstract materiality. The works appropriate the framework of an east African alphabet script (Tigrinya, Petros’ first language) and cardboard boxes. Petros integrates performative strategies, sculpture, and installation with legacies of studio and landscape imagery. The arrangements were constructed in locations ranging from Santa Barbara, California; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Nazareth, Ethiopia.

Lee Lyttle-Landscapes and Selected Works
Lee Lyttle’s Landscapes and Selected Works is an exhibition of digital prints originating from images of paintings on canvas and reworked digitally to bring out and highlight some of their subtle elements. The images vary, from landscapes of the Red Hill Creek eco system in East Hamilton, to surreal images conveying notions of death, spiritual transformation and accepting mortality.

Carol Priamo-Architexturals
n this series, Carol Priamo uses her extensive practice in photography, collage and design combined with the raw materials of her own photographic images and digital programs to create tapestry-like compositions of intensified colour, pattern and texture. Her process is one of building a new ‘reality’ from the purposeful integration of altered, layered and blended photographs of architectural facades and streetscapes.

This new format fundraiser for Hamilton Artists Inc will take place
Friday May 4th, 2012, from 7- 9 PM
@ The Inc, 155 James Street North

Tickets: $71 [$50 of which is tax receipt-able]
Price includes a chance to GRAB an original work of art right off the wall!!

Door prizes include gift certificates from BEST BUY and BRYAN PRINCE BOOKSELLER

+ REFRESHMENTS + ENTERTAINMENT by RANDAL HILL

A fundraiser for Hamilton’s artist run-centre, Art Grab 2012 presents a gallery full of anonymous works by local artists, celebrities and community leaders who support the arts and have accepted the challenge to contribute a 5″ x 7″ work of art – only after the work is selected will “who done it” be revealed. For $71, this is a great way to support our local arts community and even experience some of the glamour of being an international art thief without the risk of jail time.

“We will have artists and non-artists exhibiting together for this one special and hilarious evening,” explains Suzan Fawcett, President of the Board of Directors for the Inc, “Some people participating will never have created art work before and that makes it even more appealing to grab their work . Who knows, a new art star may be discovered. At the very least your new masterpiece will have a great story behind it.”
