Attention Local Artists expand your horizons this year and apply for this super cool residency —-
Straight from the site
“The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (Amsterdam) is an international residency program. During their two years’ residency, emerging professional artists are stimulated to reflect critically on their work and break new ground. They are offered artistic, theoretical and technical support within a well-equipped working environment.
Resident artists work in an individual studio surrounded by approximately 45 peers from all over the world. Ongoing dialogues take place with a group of prominent artists, theoreticians and professionals from other disciplines, who are connected to the Rijksakademie as advisors. Furthermore, there is a theory workshop offering a specialized art library and (historical) collections. Presentation of the work and connections to an international network form a part of the two-year residency program.
Selected artists usually have finished a BA/MA education and have a few years of independent professional practice before starting a residency at the Rijksakademie.
More information and application
Every year, about 25 studios become available. Please take a look on our website for more information. You can apply for the 2018 residency by completing the online application form from January 1, 2017. Deadline for application is February 1, 2017.”
This Christmas its important to know where your dollars go, I would encourage people to spend their money locally. It not only improves the local economy but keeps local jobs flowing. I would especially encourage people to BUY ART for christmas! Art is not only a great gift but a great way to support the local arts and artcrawl in general.
These past couple years have seen some incredible growth for Hamilton’s economy with condo’s etc. its also seen a increase in poverty and people being pushed out by higher rents, etc Please if you can share some money with various local charities.
Some great art from Canadian Artist Tom Dean
I love propaganda art, you really get a sense of the vision of a country or ideology. Soviet mosaics cause you know why not?
